"Optimal
management of breast cancer (BC) patients with sentinel lymph
node (SLN) micrometastases remains unclear. Results from
randomized trials would be ideal, but most of them closed early
because of poor enrollment. With a median follow-up of 60 months,
the present prospective study provides evidence that
locoregional recurrence or distant disease in BC patients with
SLN micrometastases in whom ALND was omitted is very low.
Therefore, it supports the theory that further axillary
treatment may be avoided in these patients, providing that
adjuvant systemic treatment is administered" (Comment
