Computed tomographic colonography and optical colonoscopy for colorectal-cancer screening and prevention

CT colonography is an effective method to screen for colorectal cancer equivalent to traditional colonoscopy.  CT colonography holds advantages over colonoscopy because it is less invasive, less costly and has a lower risk of complications.

The bottom line, however, is that both tests are needed to screen the large numbers of eligible people who currently are not evaluated by any method. There are many people that are dying needlessly for a largely preventable cancer.
